This system proposes a password-based circuit breaker system. The circuit is connected to a keypad, allowing entry of the password. There has been a significant rise in fatal accidents involving line men due to electric shocks caused by a lack of coordination between maintenance staff and electric substation personnel.
Our system provides a solution to this problem, ensuring the safety of line men by preventing such incidents. Control of the circuit is centralized at the substation, where a circuit breaker and keypad are installed. The line man can enter the password to switch off the circuit, allowing for safe repairs. Upon completion, the line man returns to the substation to switch on the circuit, again requiring the password for activation.
By placing the control of circuit switching in the hands of the line man, accidents are effectively eliminated. The system employs an 8051 microcontroller for password validation and a matrix keypad for password input. Furthermore, the system can be enhanced in the future by integrating an EEPROM for convenient password updates as necessary.
